Maybe this is you: your eyes just covered a whole chapter of the Bible, but you don’t really remember what you read. The problem? Your Bible is too clean. One simple change can get your brain involved.
They say that the pen is mightier than the sword, and it can be mightier than all that stuff that’s distracting you, too. So, try this. Next time you sit down to read, pick up a notebook, a highlighter, and a pen.
As you read, get in there and write on your Bible. Underline, highlight, take notes, and do whatever you need to engage your mind. Those clean pages need some character. And you’ll be glad you did it later.
Also, keep track of things you want to remember in your notebook. Write out prayers and questions and things you’re asking God to help you with. Those are a great record of your spiritual growth.
Of course, if you’re more of a techie, you can do all this online or on your phone. But however you do it, just get your Bible messy.
